The Grade 12 students who followed the IB Visual Arts Program will be exhibiting their studio production at the University Library from Friday, March 25 to Wednesday, April 1. From the 20th until the 24th the students will be displaying the art pieces they have made. This set up represents the ultimate step of their work. The exam day is on the 25th. A special exhibition unveiling will be held on Thursday, March 26 at 5:00 pm. What is this exhibition about? Each student will present a collection of personally relevant artwork through which they explored ideas that reflect cultural and historical awareness. Students are encouraged to explore art, craft and design traditions from past, present and emerging cultural backgrounds, as well as from local, national and international contexts. In this Visual Arts Program, the students develop and demonstrate technical and artistic skills that challenge and extend personal boundaries. The course enables students to engage in both practical exploration and artistic production, and in independent contextual, visual and critical investigation. The development of studio techniques is essential to help students explore the potential for expression and better understand the relationship between theory and practice. This Program enables students to study visual arts in higher education and also welcomes those students who seek life enrichment through visual arts.
