Jianhua Lu
Dr. Jia Lu is currently a faculty member in the Geosciences Program at Valdosta State University in the U.S. Before that, she also taught in University of Wisconsin. As a trained city planner, architect, and geographer, Dr. Lu's interests include a variety of topics related to her interests. Her specialties include city and regional planning, geographic information systems (GIS), quantitative analysis, housing, and urban economics. She currently teaches GIS and planning courses. Dr. Lu has over ten years’ experience in GIS, including GIS research at the Ohio State University, GIS applications at the City of Columbus, and GIS instruction at the University of Wisconsin System and Catholic University of America. Besides extensive academic training, Dr. Lu has over ten years’ working experience in government planning and architectural design agencies, including the Ohio Department of Development and Warren County Planning Commission. In addition, Dr. Lu is a frequent speaker at the annual meetings of the Association of American Geographers, the Urban and Regional Information System Association, and other international conferences. Her publications include a book the Geography of China, a chapter in the book Cellular Automata Model and Its Application in Planning, and several journal articles in geography and planning. In addition, Dr. Lu has been awarded more than ten grants from various institutions and agencies. In her spare time, Dr. Lu enjoys watercolor painting and travel. Her art works have been published in the Selection of Fine Art Works in Architecture.
