DescriptionTo experience marine biology and coral reef monitoring at hand, the course includes: - a 1-day classroom theory session - and a 1-day diving field trip In the *theory lesson* (on Monday 28), participants will be taught about coral reefs in general and on how reef health can be monitored. In the *field lesson* (diving on Wednesday 30), the participants will practice and then evaluate reef health using the Reef Check method. **Please note that for this field trip, you need to have a certified diving license (Open Water at least).
Cornelia is a marine ecologist working as Postdoc at the Red Sea Research Center in KAUST. Before studying Red Sea coral reefs, she have participated in coral reef projects on Bermuda, in Costa Rica, Thailand and China. Cornelia's main interest is in reef metabolism, reef-water interactions and the effects of changing environmental conditions on reefs. Cornelia has been a Reef Check scientist since 2006 and have conducted Reef Check workshops in Egypt since then.
