Guido Barendson
61 years old, born in Milan (Italy), lives and works in Rome in both English and Italian. He is married with three children. He is a gastronomical critic and works directly with the director general of the RAI (Radio Televisione Italiana, the Italian national TV network). He is a member of the managing committee of the prestigious restaurant guide of the Italian magazine L’Espresso. He is also a member of the editorial committee of “Limes”, the geopolitical Italian magazine. He collaborates with various other publications. From January 2008 to July 2009 he is director of the RAISAT GAMBERO ROSSO TV channel, which is the leading channel on food and wine. From March 2004 he is vice president “ad personam” at the TG2 TV channel and prepares a series on Wine, Food and Ecology in Italy. From September 2002-2003 he is in charge of the weekly RAI1 TV LINEA VERDE, which is a very popular show on agriculture in Italy. In the first part of his life as a journalist, he was an international news editor, first at “La Repubblica” (one of Italy’s major newspaper) and then as an anchorman at the CANALE 5 TV channel. During these years he travelled extensively and covered many important international events, like the presidential elections in the US or regional conflicts. In 1996 he was the PR in charge of RAI’s relationship to international institutions.
