The workshop is organized by Saudi Aramco and sponsored by Pioneers Technical Systems.The field of robotic systems has grown tremendously in the last decade. Robots are gradually gaining popularity and replacing humans in performing tasks that are repetitive, hazardous or laborious. Advancements in 3D printing and rapid prototyping technologies, along with easier accessibility to embedded systems, have made robot development more approachable than ever.
This workshop will be held across five days for three hours each morning. Teams of three to six people will collaborate on each project where individual members will focus on different areas including mechanical design, electronics design and embedded programming.
The requirements for each specialization are listed below. The first bullet in each specialization is mandatory, while the second bullet is recommended and will be considered in selecting attendees. Experience gained from academic courses, hobbies and work experience can fulfill these requirements.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical design concepts
- Knowledge and experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, ProEngineer)
- Basic knowledge of electronics (primitive components, DC circuits)
- Experience with E-CAD software (Altium, Proteus, Eagle)
- Basic programming skills (C, C++, MATLAB)
- Basic knowledge of microcontroller programming
