Join KAUST Students and Community members who surveyed our Reef as they release the results of their recent Reef Check.
Since 1996, the Reef Check Foundation has helped preserve the oceans and reefs. With volunteer teams in more than 90 countries and territories, Reef Check works to protect tropical coral reefs and California rocky reefs through education, research and conservation.
Important Information: Students for Credits who signed up for and attended the Reef Check must attend this lecture.

Anika Mauritz
Anika dived in the Red Sea for the first time in 1999 and she is still fascinated by its colorful world of coral reefs. Even after spending a year at the GBR in Australia, she always finds her way back to the Red Sea. Anika is a dive instructor who has been working in the region for over 15 years and she is active with Reef Check since 2012, introducing Reef Check participants to Red Sea reefs. In her other career she is an intensive care doctor and saves patients’ lives in the emergency room.

Jenny Krutschinna
Jenny is a marine biologist and has been giving Reef Check courses in the Red Sea since 2001. She is also a Reef Check instructor trainer, teaching other scientists and local communities how to become conservation mentors. Jenny is dedicated to bringing important ecological issues to the attention of the public which is also her current profession in a Zoo nearby Frankfurt, Germany. She is a passionate diver with 25 years of underwater experience and proud mother of a 6-year old snorkeling boy.
