Shadow puppet master and Javanese traditional musicians from Museum Sonobudoyo, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Museum Sonobudoyo is one of the oldest museums in Indonesia. The museum, which is located in the heart of Yogyakarta, a special region in Java, is a regional technical operational unit under the Provincial Cultural Office. It was initiated by the Java Institute foundation in 1919, and officially inaugurated in 1935 by the King of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Bhuwono VIII. The museum exhibits more than 40,000 historical items collected from Java, Madura, Bali and Lombok islands.
One cultural heritage that has been preserved by the museum is a Javanese shadow puppetry, which is going to be shown during 2017 Winter Enrichment Program (WEP) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
